2. CURE International. Childrens Hospitals in Niger, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Zambia. 'Our work reflects the hands, feet, and heart of Christ by preventing treatable conditions from becoming lifelong disabilities and introducing children to God’s love.' (www.cure.org)
3.PAACS, the Pan Africa Academy for Christian Surgeons, training surgeons in Africa. Active in countries like Gabon, Niger, Kenya, Cameroon and Ethiopia training African doctors through a 5 year program credentialed by the Loma Linda University in the USA (www.paacs.net)
4. Operation Smile - repairing cleft lips and palates in patients of all ages - a global charity that operates in all countries where the poor cannot afford surgery eg. South America, Central America, Africa, China and India. (www.operationsmile.org )
To provide a service to surgeons working elsewhere in Africa through email correspondence, often with pictures attached, on advice on the management of specific problems. With PAACS, we have just completed a plastic surgery textbook for surgeons working in developing countries who often encounter plastic surgery-related problems. This book is available on the Internet at no cost.
